A Step Forward in Development

Part of a sustainable development project in Likoni, Kenya, 'The Access Seed' is a leap forward in microfinance projects.  Faced with staggering unemployment rates and sustenance-focused microfinance projects where local markets set the prices, we hoped to create a system whereby Likoni craftspeople would have a fair, simple, and developement-based program to work with.  Anchored out of the local NGO offices of LICODEP (Likoni's Community Development Program), this is the culmination of that idea.  Please take the time to browse our products, meet our site team, and learn more about the program that also offers business training supported financially by the products you buy.  We recognize the need for traditional microfinance projects, but, as Africans skipped by land lines in favor of cell phones, we hope the same happens with the Internet and business. 

The system is simple.  Our craftspeople create the products and plant the seed of development with it.  This website and the 'Access Seed' Site Team provide the necessary fertilizer.  Your purchases cause the seed to finally grow.  More than just sustainable, this project is also true development, thus, sustainable development.

'The Access Seed' has labored heavily to find the best possible methods to provide the best service for both our seller's and you, the customer.  We remind you that shipping from the Thirld World is expensive and sometimes slower than we would like.  Please think of this time as the period to properly grow a great plant.  We encourage, but do not require like other services, orders over $40 USD.  Portions of orders over $40 help support Community Development Programs who are part of the LICODEP family.  Please take the time to become familiar with our site team after you have finished purchasing your gifts.  We want to create a friendly and fulfilling relationship with you!
